Delays of up to a minute are not uncommon for Internet streamed audio and video, we have substantially reduced this transmission delay, offering a new service that is up to 5x quicker with greatly improved start-up time whilst simultaneously maintaining the fidelity of the signal. We hope that these improvements will help make Betfair Radio an even more valuable resource to you.

Our Labs Engineers have trialled new streaming technology which reduces the delay to just a few seconds, making the service comparable to traditional radio and TV broadcasts. This service is available now.
 

Betfair search originally started life as a personal project of a developer, before being adopted by Betfair. One of the major challenges with providing a search function had always been how to integrate this capability over what is hugely varied and hierarchical data and still present the results in a usable format. After investigating numerous search and presentation techniques, the current multi event, market and runner search functionality was chosen and implemented using a tiny percentage of precious real-estate. Search's initial release was through Betfair labs, but it's rapid adoption led to its incorporation on the main sports pages.
